A place where every child explores their own path
A storybook world - roll over each place to meet a friendAt Okeedokee, we don't believe in "one size fits all". Our 66-place centre is thoughtfully divided into five distinct spaces where children are grouped with peers at a similar stage of discovery.
A gentle, calm space that feels warm the moment you walk in. The same faces each day - educators who know your baby's routines, their little signals, and what helps them settle. Rest times follow your baby's natural home rhythm.
A warm, open space built for safe exploration. Low shelves and simple materials let toddlers make their own choices, with climbing, movement, and sensory play with water, mud, and natural textures every day.
A busy, exciting stage where children begin to shape their own identities - painting, puzzles, and construction build early problem-solving, with warm guidance and predictable daily rhythms.
Curiosity takes centre stage. We support children as they move from playing alongside others to truly playing with others - negotiating, sharing ideas, and building complex worlds together.
Guided by a qualified early childhood teacher - pre-literacy, numeracy, and science through real play, with strong transitions to local schools like Norman Park, Carina, and St Thomas'.
No matter which room your child is in, you will receive regular updates, photos, and notes through our communication portal. You are always welcome to visit and see how our simple, natural environment supports real learning every day.
Tours are relaxed, personal, and take around 15–20 minutes.
We're all about happy kids, great kids, your kids. We believe a little more care and a little more time make a big difference - celebrating the small moments that shape confident, kind children.
Okeedokee began as a family-owned idea. The site once held a small 1963 shell servo, became a community craft centre, then grew into the place it is today. Construction started in 2009 with help from family, and our Norman Park centre opened in 2010 - shaped by natural light, deep verandas, and outdoor spaces designed for real childhood play.
Because we are a small boutique centre, you won't see passing staff - you'll see the same warm faces, the same caring voices, and the same steady support year-round. Our educators take the time to truly know your child and celebrate the small, daily moments that matter most.
You are always welcome to visit, meet our team, and see what makes Okeedokee feel like home.
A small, boutique, single-level centre with only 66 places - purposefully designed to feel safe, familiar, and easy for children to navigate. A calm haven that feels like a natural extension of your own home.
Deep, wide verandas link our indoor rooms and keep the spaces cool, bright, and full of natural light. Children move between indoors and outdoors at their own pace, choosing activities that match their interests in the moment.
Outside, the environment is open, leafy, and shaded - the kind of "real" childhood involving sand, water, mud, and gardens. Climbing, digging, building with natural materials: children have the freedom to get messy in a place where imagination grows quickly.
We would love to show you around.
Our philosophy isn't just a document on a wall - it's the way we breathe, play, and learn together every day. Children are already rich with wonder; our job is to provide the steady, safe ground they need to grow.
We see every child as competent, capable, and infinitely creative - curious researchers of the world. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we play and learn, the Turrbal and Jagera people, and weave First Nations perspectives into our daily rhythms.
Weekly soccer and active play - gross motor skills, coordination, and teamwork in our leafy outdoor spaces.
Music, dance, and creative movement through themed adventures that build physical confidence.
Stories, role-play, and "tummy feeling" check-ins that help children navigate emotions and friendships.
Building bridges in the block corner and "volcanoes" in the sandpit - deep thinking through hands-on play.
The patience of planting a seed, the responsibility of watering it, and the joy of watching it grow.
Safety is our first priority and deepest commitment. We proudly uphold the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations - from gold-standard screening and Blue Cards for every team member, to open room layouts with clear lines of sight, to gentle programs that help children know their own "safety circle" of trusted adults.
Safe, loved, and capable of making a difference in the world around them.
Our tours are relaxed and personal. You will walk through the learning rooms, see children engaged in activities, and meet the educators who care for them each day. Most tours take around 15 to 20 minutes.
